EU Director General International Cooperation and Development
Stefano Manservisi was appointed the Director-General of the Directorate-General International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO) in 2016. Previously, he served as Head of Cabinet of High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini. He has over 30 years of professional experience in the European Institutions, including as Head of Commission Delegation to Turkey, Director-General of Directorate-General Home Affairs (HOME) (2010-2014) and Director-General of Directorate-General Development and Relations with Africa, Caribbean and Pacific States (DEV). Prior to joining the European Institutions, he was an official at the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in Rome and a lawyer. Mr Manservisi was a visiting professor at the University of Bologna, University of Roma Tre and College of Europe, Parma European College, and was also a fellow at the Academy of International Law, the Hague and UNESCO, Department of Legal Affairs, Paris. He has a law degree from the University of Bologna, a Post graduate - Specialised Higher Studies Diploma (DESS) from the Centre of Studies on European Communities, University of Paris I, and a Study Certificate on European Organisations from the University of Strasbourg, International Faculty of Comparative Law. He speaks Italian, French, English, and Spanish and has basic knowledge of German.
