Adriana Dinu is a development expert with over 30 years of applied experience in environment and sustainable development.
She has been appointed since November 2018, as the Deputy Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programming of UNDP. She is responsible for the management and leadership of the Global Policy Network’s global vision and strategy; directing and substantively guiding over 400 staff distributed across 5 regional hubs, 4 policy centers and headquarters to achieve coherent development policies and programming frameworks in support of the SDGs and Agenda 2030.
Prior to this appointment, and since 2013, Adriana has served as Director of the Global Environmental Finance, responsible for UNDP’s engagement with the GEF and Green Climate Fund; with primary responsibility for the strategic leadership and operational management of a USD 6 billion portfolio in 140 countries covering: ecosystems and biodiversity; energy; climate change; water and ocean governance; and chemicals and waste. From 2005 until 2013, she served as UNDP - GEF Deputy Executive Coordinator, Regional Director for Environment and Energy for Europe and CIS and Regional Technical Advisor for Biodiversity for Europe and CIS. Before joining UNDP, Adriana has worked Fauna & Flora International, the World Bank, IUCN and academia.
