Regional Nutrition Adviser, UNICEF
Dr Zagre has many years of experience in the field of International Nutrition. Prior to joining UNICEF WCARO, he also occupied the same position with UNICEF East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) based in Nairobi, served in the Asia (Thailand) as Senior Regional Emergency Nutrition Specialist for East Asia and Pacific and South Asia, and in Niger as Nutrition Manager.
He has working experience with other international organizations such as the Helen Keller International as Principal Investigator and then Country Representative in Niger, Institute of Health Sciences research in Burkina Faso as head of the Nutrition Unit and research Fellow with the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) in Montpellier, France.
Dr Zagre is a national of Burkina Faso, and holds a PhD in International Nutrition from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal (Canada) and a Doctorat ès Sciences in Food Sciences from University of Montpellier (France). The main research interest has been on micronutrients, and especially the use of red palm oil as a source for vitamin A and carotenoids.
The current focus of work is on technical support to countries for programme excellence, including design, implementation, monitoring for results, as well as advocacy and nutrition governance.
